I began working with my Father at the age of 5 making me the 4th generation in this industry. After graduating from Camden Military Academy, I went on to attend Midlands Technical College. I initially thought I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field but my heart was not in it. My passion remains in the family business that my Great Grandfather laid out long before me. I earned my certification in Wedi, Schluter Systems, and IVC Vinyl thus far. I received my certificate in Interior Decorating in March of 2018 as well. Not only am I knowledgeable with our products, but I am also capable of installing almost everything we sell. This gives me the upper hand in our industry by knowing inside and out exactly what I'm selling. We, as a family, pride ourselves in offering only the highest quality products to our members and clients at affordable prices.
My Father, Danny Carlson, is Frank's youngest son. Danny started working with his father at 10 years old. He spent his summers and weekends by my Grandfathers side. During that time, my grandfather passed on many skills such as how to hand sew carpets. My father has continued to acquire many skills over the years. He has even learned how to hand carve rugs. Some of which have had fiber optics in them. He is certified in Medintech, Forbo, Pergo, IVC sheet vinyl, Ardex self leveling systems, and was formally CFI certified as a Master Mechanic. My father remains well respected as a quality installer but has since retired. In 1998, he opened his first retail store, America's Carpet Gallery. Like his forefathers before him, he began a family and passed on the love for our trade.

My Grandfather, Frank Carlson, left home at age 13 and eventually married my Grandmother, Florence. She was his first and only love since the young age of 14. Frank served our country in the Navy during WWII. Upon returning home, he had 5 children and spent his life working diligently to provide for his family and become a master in his field. Frank continued his Father's trade as a second generation installer. Frank had skill levels that we take for granted today because of advances in technology. Skills including and not limited to the ability to hand plane/bevel both wood and vinyl planks prior to installing them in a customer's home. Frank continued installing all types of flooring well into his 70's.
Our heritage dates back to the mid 1800's when my Great Grandfather Herman Carlson first arrived by ship to Staten Island from Sweden at age 11. Herman learned many skills at an early age and that hard work paid off. He went on to serve in the Army during WWI. When he returned, he began his career with silver polishing and gradually moved on to become a master in his craft which was installing metal ceilings and wood flooring. Many of his metal ceilings and hardwood floors can still be found today throughout New York City. He began the first generation of my family's heritage. Herman married Martha and had 11 children, 4 of which passed away during the 1918 Influenza Pandemic. One of his surviving sons is my Grandfather, Frank Carlson.
